Ghana’s awarding winning Internet Service Provider Busy Internet has been hard hit by the recent torrential rains in Accra and its surrounding communities, adversely affecting its business operations.
For the past 48 hours the operator of Ghana’s biggest internet café at the popular Kwame Nkrumah Circle is struggling to get its internet connection up and running. Although the café is running it normal administrative business activities the unavailability of internet connection for the past two days have automatically reduce the patronage of the once busy café in the city.
Information gathered by Biztechafrica so far indicates that the company’s technicians are working on the server to restore internet connection for its customers and numerous clients.
In another development network connectivity also went down in some parts of Accra and its surrounding communities after the rains. During the early hours of Thursday subscribers of most networks in Accra after realising that their calls cannot go through  resort to  using social media to communicate with love ones to ascertain their safety and where about in town.
Although it took about an hour and half for some network to bounce back fully with the provision of reliable connection, they all failed to apologise to their subscribers for the inconvenience caused them.
In a statement issued and signed by the Minister of Communication Dr Edward Omane Boamah in Accra, he noted that over the past two days, many suburbs of Accra and surrounding parts have been heavily affected leading to heavy restriction of movement of people.
The statement also acknowledged a power substation that has been affected by the floodwater, leading to an emergency cut in power supply to a number of communities, which were otherwise not programmed to go off tonight.
He then urged the general public to avoid fast moving rainwater, and areas they know have big drains to prevent loss of life.
